A Random Walk

Between the leaves, sunlight filters

through dust particles filling an unseen vapor

with elemental groupings of neutrons

and protons, and electrons revolving

like planets in a daylit sky,

And here I exist, between these leaves,

as segmented pieces, alter egos, disjointed

fragments of non-cohesive matter, visably

moving while the random collisions remain,

Isn’t that after all the way we live,

in that same randomness, bouncing

and colliding in crowded shops, through

empty doorways, down unlit halls, until our lives

are finally reduced to the space between leaves,
